In the 1 position the lights stay on for 1 minute. 2 is for 2 minutes 3 is for 3 minutes. I have two of these motion detectors. I think I bought them over 20 years ago. One stopped working recently and just stays on all the time, so I disconnected it, but the other is still working fine.
