Ah, it sounds like your issue is that the system is currently armed so the panel isn't defaulting. As a security measure, this process only works with the system disarmed. I'm sure you wouldn't want someone to be able to just enter your home and press two buttons on your armed system to reset it back to factory default.
Why am I just learning that here? Why is it that Vivint hasn't offered me to upgrade to Sky Control? Not a single email from Vivint offering to let me upgrade. When I log into their website now, I have to click on the Go Controller instead of that shiny new looking controller to gain access. That doesn't make me feel good.

The door to door sales guys are notorious for telling a new customer any thing they want to hear in order to close a sale. Even Vivint's customers that still have the old GoControl panel are running old, outdated firmware (newest firmware is 1.12, for info, see ), but most of them are still on v1.6, v1.8, and none are running firmware above v1.9.6.
Most of the complaints I found were based on aggressive sales tactics, but the sales guy had me at the words 'home automation.' So we moved the camera, and played with the system and pretty much loved it.
Care to explain how exactly people are just getting into panels. Vivint can, so can any alarm company but the average joe? Here is scenerio 1. Say I am scoping out homes for burglary, I see the signs, I make an excuse (I am selling something), or I just come by to say hello as a new neighbor from 'down the street' Or I am a neighbor kid/friend of your son/daughter, and I see all the expensive electronics boxes at your curb on trash day A simple look at your sign tells me there is a 99% chance you are running a 2gig contrl2 system if the vivint sign is bright orange and not faded (vivnt replaced the signs less than a year ago with UV ones) Most panels by vivnt are installed against manufacture recommendations at front entry. Knowing the installer code, it would only take me 30 sec to access your disarmed system with the default installer code, view all your user codes including Master, and/or add my own code. Most homeowners don't hang around front entry, and will let you 'see your way out'.
I can steal an unsuspecting Vivint customers master code in give or take 10 sec, right in front of their face, they haven't a clue. The only protection from this is for the Vivint user to change Q44 to '0', change Q43 to a 4 digit code only they would know, and to change User 8 code/or delete it Near 600,000 Vivint users haven't a clue how vulnerable they are, and how easy it is to steal/access/compromise their security panel codes This is their wake up call Also, for those that think Vivint will have their back, they would be dead wrong. Suggest they read the fine print on back of contract. There is a clause that states they are not liable for more than 12x monthly fee, or $1,000 (whichever is less) if the system fails, is improperly installed, even if it results in death/injury, property damage/loss, etc. So say you are paying $50/month to Vivint, and because of this known exploit/or improper system installation something bad happens to you or your family.you have in writing agreed that Vivint if found liable, is only liable for $600. Awesome, someone dies, gets raped, badly injured, you get a $600 credit or check from Vivint. The purpose of my posting this known exploit, is to make Vivint customers aware of the issue, and force them to be proactive in their own home defense • • • •.
Vivint Sky Control Installer Code
The default master code will be set to 1111. All regular user codes will need to be reprogrammed. It is important to remember that you should never use the installer code to arm or disarm the panel. Instead, the installer code should only be used for accessing system programming, and the master code or a user code should be used for arming and disarming. Most users are fine with keeping the installer code to its default of 1561. This is because the code is rarely used, and keeping it at the default is not a security risk.

As I said this code can be found online by anyone with a simple Google search for either the 2gig installers programming guide, or vivint/apx installer code For example. Google search for 'Vivint installer code' Google search for '2gig installer code' 2gig default: 1561 Apx/vivint: 2203 Try it yourself Disarm panel, then from the main screen. Security>Menu>toolbox>enter the Vivint code/2gig code as shown above>user management If you currently have a 2gig, or any branded 2GIG panel, especially if it is a apx/vivint branded one, and it is using the default, then change your installer code! (else one day someone may just walk into/break in/kick the door to your home in while you are away (or home sleeping), disable/disarm your system, clean you out/hurt you, then rearm your system upon departure. Thus, your security system has just been rendered ineffectual and completely useless.
